How We Review
Every recommendation on Scout's Picks is built on a transparent, repeatable process. Scout is our illustrated mascot, not a human tester — we research each product from manufacturer specs, independent expert lab tests, and thousands of verified owner reviews, score against fixed weighted criteria, and date every update. We never claim to have physically tested products we haven't.

Evidence tiers
Each review is labeled with the evidence it draws on. We never claim hands-on testing we didn't do.
- Research-based review: Built from manufacturer specs, independent expert lab tests, and verified-owner feedback. We do not physically test products ourselves.
- Expert-test synthesis: Draws primarily on published, independent lab and expert testing, cross-checked against owner feedback.
- Owner-feedback synthesis: Primarily an analysis of large-scale verified-owner feedback and specifications.
Keeping recommendations current
We revisit picks when products change, prices shift, or better alternatives appear. Each review shows its last-updated date.
